  • Addiction I’M SORRY my depression consumed us. I’m even more sorry yours didn’t. If it had we could have been over a lot sooner. Not that I wanted an end at […]

    • Oh my, Hayley. This is…raw and brutal in places to read. Proper bleeding out on the page/screen writing. My own experiences of addiction and it’s hold ring many truths…even if I’m coming from a different angle. Brave and courageous writing…Well done for writing, sharing and working through this all!

      • Thank you so very much Paul, it’s not been the easiest year moving through these emotions, but it’s been super healing in sharing, writing it out of me & connecting with others! I am sorry this resonates as I know these aren’t easy feelings to go through but I appreciate you reading and commenting this thoughtful response.

        • Oh you’re absolutely welcome, it was kinda a bitter joy to read. Like, I was part thinking “I’m so sorry you’ve been through this” and then “yes, Hayley, let it out!” Since figuring out I was addicted, I have realised I understood so many people who suffered from addictions…so I always feel strong sense of pride and empathy towards people fighting them off. And messy breakups and relationships in the mix can’t make it any easier. I fortunately didn’t lose my relationship or didn’t need to give it up because of my addiction… but…it was close. So, yeah, I felt so much of this, from my own view. Good for you though, I also agree, that writing and sharing, helps and is cathartic. Sorry for big massive reply!

    • Okay… Chapter one… got it- Where’s the rest?? But seriously, this was fantastic River, your dialogue especially. Also didn’t need much detail for me to have impressively detailed images of both Dan and Lynn in my head. Would love to continue reading if you have more to this series!!

      • Thank you so much! I never started the next part, but maybe it’ll be on the list of things I work on this year.

    • River, you’ve got something going with this story. Witches recruiting for powers, a reluctant heir. Good stuff. I was absorbed in this – and I knew it’d be a teaser chapter when I read the first sentence, but come on, haha! Put continuing this story on top in your WIP folder!

    • This is all kinds of beautiful sadness. I love how much you get from what many would see as a simple pen. For any artist, a pen or paintbrush or whatever, is not really that simple…and if you have a favourite one…one that feels “right” in your hand and is with you when you write stuff you are proud of or that’s important…it is so much more than just a thing you write with! Beautiful work, River!
