    • Wow this was a really excellent, so sad and beautiful. I’m so glad to see you on here! So excited to see more!

    • Oh my goodness, this was so heartbreakingly beautiful. Such a powerful testamet to friendship, love and justice. You had me sobbing at Rathlon’s ____ and then bawlling at the interruption x Really stunningly written 🤍

    • SO beautifully written, fairy tale quality with a strong message of love. Some of your best work, right here!

    • I remember this one broke my heart. Excellent storytelling. 😢

    • I…yes…this one made me really kinda teary eyed. Such elegance though…such deftness in how you, in not even that many words, brought their age-old friendship to life. So much sadness and beauty in one story. Wanna know something weird. One of my first drafts/ideas for that particular challenge, was for two friends, an ancient eagle and an ancient tree, and one was very kindly and positive towards the humans, whereas the eagle was very untrusting and felt they were nothing but trouble. Kinda like the Professor and Magneto in X-Men. Anyway, always thought it was interesting that we had had those same kinda ideas. Impressive writing, Heather, findamn.

    • Aw Rock you are so beautiful and talented insode and out. One of life’s gift to me has been you x I love the intricate, complicated, wonderful beauty you exude in writing and in our interactions. Stunning piece x

    • Absolutely beautifully done here, I love that it’s a short piece that shows the reader (us) exactly who you are. Just gorgeous.

    • Ah to say that this brought tears to my eyes wouldn’t be enough to say the emotions you conveyed in this. I felt myself in the lines and wondered if maybe we all experience writing the same way, a way to escape and be. Thank you for sharing!

Välkommen! ( Welcome) from ROCK in Sweden; I look forward to sharing more about the writing life with you all. Today was our first real feel of spring with temperatures reaching 19c; this made me move my stone age body outside where stories began to come alive as I sat in the warm sunshine. Sometimes to be a good writer means removing ourselves…[Read more]

    • Oh my, Hayley. This is…raw and brutal in places to read. Proper bleeding out on the page/screen writing. My own experiences of addiction and it’s hold ring many truths…even if I’m coming from a different angle. Brave and courageous writing…Well done for writing, sharing and working through this all!

      • Thank you so very much Paul, it’s not been the easiest year moving through these emotions, but it’s been super healing in sharing, writing it out of me & connecting with others! I am sorry this resonates as I know these aren’t easy feelings to go through but I appreciate you reading and commenting this thoughtful response.

        • Oh you’re absolutely welcome, it was kinda a bitter joy to read. Like, I was part thinking “I’m so sorry you’ve been through this” and then “yes, Hayley, let it out!” Since figuring out I was addicted, I have realised I understood so many people who suffered from addictions…so I always feel strong sense of pride and empathy towards people fighting them off. And messy breakups and relationships in the mix can’t make it any easier. I fortunately didn’t lose my relationship or didn’t need to give it up because of my addiction… but…it was close. So, yeah, I felt so much of this, from my own view. Good for you though, I also agree, that writing and sharing, helps and is cathartic. Sorry for big massive reply!

    • Okay… Chapter one… got it- Where’s the rest?? But seriously, this was fantastic River, your dialogue especially. Also didn’t need much detail for me to have impressively detailed images of both Dan and Lynn in my head. Would love to continue reading if you have more to this series!!

      • Thank you so much! I never started the next part, but maybe it’ll be on the list of things I work on this year.

    • River, you’ve got something going with this story. Witches recruiting for powers, a reluctant heir. Good stuff. I was absorbed in this – and I knew it’d be a teaser chapter when I read the first sentence, but come on, haha! Put continuing this story on top in your WIP folder!
