Hiding in my childhood den,
I saw them dancing on the bridge –
Street lamps reflecting on the river’s ripples,
Dancing too.
The fresh salt swill of ocean dreams,
Carried in the arms of the autumnal breeze.
Mesmerised, I watched them kiss-
Delicate lips momentarily as one,
Instinctively, she reached out for her hand,
And she in turn clasped hers in hers.
Each for each.
Fingers locked, they walked away,
And I wondered in my childish mind –
How hands feel when the heart,
Has found a home.
And above my head the moon glows.
Smiling gently,
For it, already knows.
